Metashape Architects create poetic architecture that is deeply attuned to its context. We are a progressive architectural studio established in 2018 with offices in London and Winchester. We take an open creative approach to each of our projects, aiming to achieve unique, well-crafted, socially responsible, and sustainable design solutions. Our work celebrates craftsmanship, creating architecture with its own identity while maintaining harmony within its local context.

We embrace a collaborative design process from the early stages, our Architects work closely with clients to define their needs and create innovative and contemporary buildings, bringing ideas and a collaborative solution together, with our teams’ support who respond quickly to any project demand. As a design-led practice, we aspire to high-quality design backed by a deep understanding of construction techniques, building regulations, environmental standards and commercial markets. Each of our designs is bespoke, crafted specifically for the site, the user, the client, and the stakeholders. We achieve design solutions through extensive research into the context, landscape, or urban environment, developing a narrative to inform our architectural approach. A fusion of ideas, blending tradition with innovation, where every project presents both a challenge and an opportunity for growth. Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that transformation happens by understanding and respecting the site, its history, and its culture.

We are deeply committed to environmental solutions to achieve a Net Zero future, embracing reuse of existing building over demolition, and a fabric first approach to sustainability and innovation, integrating sustainable technologies into our designs whenever possible. Our approach pushes forward-thinking experimentation, particularly in the areas of materiality and sustainable technology where we have collaborated with leading industry partners and academics to experiment with emerging renewable technologies.

Our team bring years of experience, having designed and delivered multiple award-winning residential, education, and mixed-use developments. This experience has provided us with a strong understanding of commercial viability, market constraints, and the ability to deliver high-quality, well-considered architectural solutions that are both buildable and affordable.

The studio maintains a highly personalised approach throughout the design journey, ensuring strong technical and structural solutions through close collaboration with the Design Team consultants. Each project brings its own client and specific budget considerations, and to achieve the best outcomes, we believe that the design process should be a collaborative effort between the client, the designer and project stakeholders.

We also encourage the use of a local supply chain, specifying products to help bolster local businesses and reduce transportation emissions.
