Working closely with Westminster Community Homes, Metashape have designed a building of distinct character which provides 100% affordable housing. The proposed development comprises of 15 social rented residential units on a site located in a highly accessible location in north-west Westminster and makes use of brownfield land. Considerable studies of the neighbourhood plan, local context and character form the basis for the design. Working in collaboration with a number of consultants, the design includes high aspirations for a sustainable development. This includes reuse of reclaimed bricks from the demolition, minimising embodied carbon through a highly efficient building fabric, providing an increase in bio-diversity net gain through green roofs and landscape gardens, the inclusion of photovoltaics and air source heat pumps for renewable energy generation.
